Have you ever talked to your friend about a member of the opposite sex, only to hear the following: "Forget it! He/she is out of your league". What is this "league" that people speak of? As far as I'm concerned, the only leagues that exist refer to sports and not genders. You see, these "leagues" are actually categories which people segregate themselves into based upon certain traits and qualities generally perceived to be attractive, intelligent, etc. These mental creations are dangerous because they can damage our self esteem and ultimately cause us not to pursue something we otherwise would have. Thus, we must ELIMINATE THE IDEA THAT ANYONE IS "OUT OF OUR LEAGUE" FROM OUR THOUGHT PROCESSES. Why would you throw the towel in before the match has even begun?

Modern day society in the United States (and in other locations) would like us to believe that success comes in the form of significant wealth, fancy and expensive cars, and a well sought after job. Let us not forget that society's point of view, although engulfing and overbearing at times, is just another point of view and is neither right nor wrong. I don't happen to agree with the aforementioned definition, and thus will propose my own; perhaps it makes sense to you too. Success is the fulfillment of goals (be them personal, professional, what have you) that you have set for yourself.
According to this definition, if you have reached the goals which you have set forth for yourself, then you are in turn successful. It is really that simple; success is a lot easier to achieve than you might think and once you train your mind to think this way, it becomes nearly impossible NOT to succeed! Be it a successful mother, a successful husband, or even successful at being you, all it takes is defining your goals, and persistence in reaching these milestones!! The rewards of being a successful person and the feelings associated with this are limitless, but I won't give you too much to think about all at once ;) |
